Workshop: Becoming-Body in Blogosphere by artist mentor Dr Sasha Burkhanova-Khabadze

London, Kensington

Join us for the workshop with an artist mentor Dr Sasha Burkhanova-Khabadze as a part of solo exhibition "BODY TEMPLE" by Margo Trushina. At the heart of the exhibition is the concept of the multiple bodies: physical, fluid, energetic, mediated, ecological, social, and planetary bodies as integral parts that encompass the multidimensionality of our existence. Much like revered temples serve as sanctuaries of reverence, our bodies act as vessels of experience, encapsulating the entirety of our existence-mind, body, and spirit.

In this workshop Dr Sasha Burkhanova-Khabadze will explore the media or social body through which we communicate with an outside world.

Sasha will examine how one's routine engagement on social media (particularly on Instagram) can be consciously utilized to navigate and make sense of the experience of becoming-oneself in the contemporary world with its mixed messages and uncertainties. With its rich toolbox of technologies of self-reflection, self-writing, performance, and collaborative storytelling, the habit of sharing on social media can become a powerful creative practice. As such, it is not so much concerned with documenting one's body as it is today, but rather with curating the situations in which the desired body of tomorrow can emerge, expand, and flourish.

During the workshop, the participants will explore the creative power of conscious content-making on Instagram: of creating for yourself transformative experiences, living through them in full, and being changing in their course. Ultimately, the workshop aims to empower individuals to claim and own their transformations by sharing them with others and passing them on — in a form of meaningful, inspiring content.
